Hiring Event Professional to Help

Hiring Event Professionals to Help

When we were looking to buy our first home, there were so many details/rules/accepted practice that we did not know. We had never been exposed to the real estate market and we had no idea how it worked. We worked with someone who had the answers and knew how to navigate the system. Someone to hold our hand and guide us while we discovered what worked best for us.

First-time event planning is like dipping your toes into any new adventure. There is ground work already laid down. The people in the industry “get it”, and those that have been through the process before have learned the intricacies (probably through a bit of trial-and-error of their own). If you are planning your first large event, know that you are not alone. Some people enjoy doing a lot of the planning themselves. Hire professionals to help you so that you can navigate all the new information. Vendors who have been recommended to you by people you trust. In the long run, working with a professional can save you money because their knowledge of their industry can help point you in the direction that will result in a finished product that suits your taste but stays within your budget. For example: A professional event florist will be able to modify your arrangements to save  some money while still maintaining the proper atmosphere and design of your room; A professional invitation designer can help you modify papers and designs, or lead you to an appropriate catalog design that suits your event style and budget, while not sacrificing quality; A professional photographer will help you capture the memory of your special day in a way that nothing else can; Event planners can be a one-stop shop, or a resource that you use on an as-needed basis to help you handle all the decisions that you need to make.

In most areas of the industry, vendors offer tiered services to suit your needs. Don’t be afraid to ask. Event planners can help you from A to Z, or they can just be there for the “day of” to allow you time to enjoy your guests (or anywhere in-between); Invitation designers offer full-service, from assembly and mailing to design services and DIY materials and consulting. Bands can suggest an adjusted number of musicians to help make their services more affordable for you.  Just remember to let the professionals know how you imagine your day, and ask how they can help. If the price is out of your budget, they may offer reduced services to meet your needs.

Event professionals are there to help you, and most offer free-sessions, where you have the opportunity to meet them and see some if their style matches your own.

Happy Planning!
